As you might expect, in a week punctuated by the festive period, there were very few new additions to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store and little in terms of Roku-related news during the past 7 days. In fact the only major UK-specific announcement from Roku - VIA THIS POST - on the "Official" Roku Blog was actually about one of the latest arrivals on Roku streaming media players in the UK. Despite being added to the Roku Channel Store selection in Canada & Mexico plus (of course) France, as well as the UK, the "Deezer" channel is not yet(?) available to Roku users in the USA... which means there is no official description for it on the Roku website. So, with extra details needing to be provided for UK Roku users, I'm going to jump straight into the new channel additions and will flesh-out the Roku-related news aspects of the article and other "missing" details as & when I get the chance. That said, as with every time I publish these posts, you can always look back over the info shared via the companion Twitter Feed: @ukrokuchannels (since my previous 'Weekly RoundUp was posted) and you'll find most (if not all) of the Roku-related news from the last week there. Anyway, without further delay, here are the channels added to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store in the past 7 days:-

PLEASE NOTE:- That, since the "Deezer" channel has yet yo be added to the "Official" Roku USA Channel Store, the link provided above will redirect you to the official 'Deezer' website where further information about the music streaming service can be obtained. Likewise, there is also (currently) no active link to an 'Roku Guide' review for this channel. Should the situation change, I will post those "missing" links here, just as soon as the details have been made known to me. Meanwhile, apologies for any inconvenience that may have been caused by their absence.

SO... WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?! Those choosing to add the "Deezer" channel to their UK Roku device(s) can ENJOY FREE AUDIO MIXES, whereby you can listen to a selection of tracks from each of the many unifying themes on offer, as well as 30-SECOND PREVIEWS OF ALL TRACKS from the various albums and genres available. However, you will only truly get the most out of this app when you SUBSCRIBE TO THE PREMIUM SERVICE at a cost of £9.99 PER MONTH which is needed to both unlock added functionality within the Roku channel as well FULL ACCESS TO the entire music streaming library of 35+ MILLION SONGS catering to pretty much all tastes.

If you already have an account with 'Deezer', you can simply log-in using those same credentials to start streaming music via your Roku device(s). If you are new to the service and wish to subscribe, then you should register on the 'Deezer' website, VIA THIS LINK, in order to unlock further functionality and access the full music library via the "Deezer" channel on your Roku streaming media player(s).

Despite having as capable remote, those of you with 'ROKU 2 XS' will (however) not find the "public" version of the "Agario" game channel listed under "Games" in the channel store on those devices because after a period of beta-testing for the "private" channel version (during late November & early December) the overall experience was found to be too "choppy" to warrant it's inclusion on the 'Roku 2 XS' model. First of all, I'd like to wish you a "Happy New Year" and to say "thank you" for continuing to read all of my Roku-related ramblings, here on this blog, as well as following the day-to-day news published via the companion Twitter Feed: @ukrokuchannels - it's much appreciated! ;-)

Again, due to the recent festivities, there has been very little action in terms of new channel additions over the past seven days... so little in fact that, when you factor in the removal of the 'Rdio' channel from Roku devices worldwide, we actually have one less app in the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store than we did at this time last week! For those that haven't already figured it out... what that (effectively) means is that there were ZERO NEW CHANNEL ADDITIONS since my last 'Weekly RoundUp'! :-(

So, with no 'Roku Guide' reviews and/or links to channel descriptions from the Roku website to provide for you, I've decided (instead) to dedicate this post as more of an "Annual RoundUp" for what has been going on in terms of UK Roku-related happenings over the past twelve months. What follows is a month-by-month summary of the main news stories (specific or relevant to UK Roku users) which were published via the "Official" Roku Blog throughout 2015. PLEASE NOTE:- That, where I have highlighted certain apps "channel added", these were channels which Roku posted about via their "official" blog and there were many other notable apps released during 2015 which are equally as good as, if not better than, those singled-out by Roku for a special mention. You need only look back through the various 'Weekly RoundUp' posts via my Blog Archive for this year (and previous years) using the links in the upper right-hand column to see for yourself. In fact, A GRAND TOTAL OF 849 CHANNELS WERE ADDED DURING 2015 to the selection available via the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store. This incredible statistic is something for which Roku developers everywhere should be applauded - AVERAGING 16+ NEW APPS PER WEEK - and that is FOR EVERY WEEK OF THE YEAR and, bearing in mind it wasn't so long ago that Roku were quoting an average of "one channel per day", this clearly demonstrates that (collectively) Roku developers have doubled their efforts - ADDING MORE THAN 2 NEW APPS EVERY DAY - and, for that, we really must say - A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL ROKU DEVELOPERS - for their continued efforts in bringing new content to Roku devices everywhere on a daily basis and bringing the overall total number of apps in the "Official" Roku UKChannel Store to 2,233 as of this moment! :-)

MEANWHILE... if you wish to see what Roku CEO, Anthony Wood, said about the achievements of the company during the past twelve months, you can read all about it - VIA THIS POST - on the "Official" Roku Blog. In truth... there was not much of relevance to UK Roku users in the article, which is (partly) why I decided to compile this "2015: the year in review" post in a more UK-specific format. However, reading the "official" post from the Roku CEO is recommended... if only by way of comparison to what has been written here, as it gives a pretty good indication of how much the UK has been overlooked by the company (i.e. Roku, themselves, and NOT the developers) during 2015. To sum up the glaring omissions, while adding further food for thought, here are...

Having clicked the "Select" button, you will be redirected to another page... the top of which looks like this:-

Once you are on the "Membership Checkout" page, of the 'Stream Now TV PRO' website, you will first see the top section, which is headed "Membership Level" (as per the image above) and in the small-print, found right at the bottom of that section, beside where it says "Do you have a discount code?" is another link which has been highlighted in pink text advising you to: "Click here to enter your discount code" and, having done that, a text-entry box will be revealed as shown below:-

The next step is to click in the rectangular box, beside where it says "Discount Code", so that you activate the data-entry field wherein you can then ENTER PROMO CODE: ukrokuchannels before clicking on the pink "APPLY" button TO GET YOUR DISCOUNT as shown:-

Before I proceed with my 'Weekly RoundUp' of the past seven days, I'd like to draw your attention to an extra mid-week post I made - FOUND HERE - in which I published details of a PROMO CODE that can be used as part of a SPECIAL OFFER for readers of this blog, to celebrate the launch of a new service - called "Stream Now TV PRO" - that is LIMITED TO 100 ONLY and so, if you have not already taken advantage of this, I recommend you act fast to avoid missing out! ;-)

THE GOOD NEWS IS... even though the offer is being made in partnership with my UK Roku blog, the folks at 'Stream Now TV' will honour this promo code for applicants from any Roku region. So, whether you happen to be from one of the newer Roku "regions" (such as Mexico or France) who has (maybe) stumbled across this blog for the first time... or, perhaps, are a long-time reader from one of the 'older' Roku regions (e.g. Ireland, Canada, or the USA) then you are eligible for this offer too! :-)

MEANWHILE... it's back to business as usual and, if ever justification were needed for publishing my 'Weekly RoundUp' of new additions to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store, then this post (in particular) is a prime example of why they have always been and will (most likely) remain an essential resource for UK Roku owners as well as a handy reference guide for Roku users worldwide. Some may feel that the existence of a "New" category within the available genres of the channel store, coupled with the equivalent listing within the Roku app for mobile devices, is enough to make these type of posts redundant... but, as you will soon be aware, THEY'RE WRONG, BECAUSE...

Among the new channel additions to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store (listed below) there are FOUR "Kids & Family" CHANNELS as well as ONE "Food" CHANNEL which, although 'new' to the UK Roku channel line-up, will not be found under the "New" genre of the channel store. In this case, the reason is that they have all been previously added to the channel selection available on Roku devices in the USA with more than a month having passed since their release and (consequently) they no longer qualify as "New" channels - even though they are 'new' to UK Roku users. Anyone relying on the "New" genre of the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store, or the Roku app, for information on new channels will not have been made aware of those five new additions to the UK channel line-up.

Another potential reason for missing out on new channels is that Roku considers them too "risqué" for minors (e.g. channels promoting medical marijuana use, or other adult-themed topics) and chooses not to "highlight" or draw unnecessary attention to them by featuring any such channels in the "New" category of the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store. Again... there is an example of this in the new additions listed below, with ONE "Web Video" CHANNEL being 'new' to the UK Roku channel line-up, but not found within the "New" genre of the channel store. As with the five channels that were "previously released" on Roku devices in the USA, anyone relying on the "New" genre of the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store, or the equivalent listing from the Roku mobile app, for info on new channels will not have been aware of this "adult-themed" channel.

Sometimes... there is only a short delay (i.e. less than one month) between when a channel is first released to USA Roku users and is then (later) added to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store. Often this scenario will arise when I have successfully made contact with and notified the developer about the situation and requested the channel be extended to UK Roku owners. Under these circumstances, provided the necessary edit(s) are made in good time and the developer notifies Roku of the relevant change(s) to add their channel to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store (and/or other Roku regions) the channel could still appear in the "New" channel category... but is likely to appear much further down the list - in keeping with the time of it's original release in the USA - and could, therefore, be easily overlooked if someone scrolling down the list of "New" channels spots some "older" releases that they recognise from the previous week(s) and does not bother to continue scrolling far enough to come across the 'late' addition of an otherwise (relatively) 'new' channel. As with the other examples, of both "previously released" and "adult-themed" channels, there was one instance of a "late arrival" recently released addition to UK Roku devices in the shape of ONE "Special Interest" CHANNEL that features among the list of new additions to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store.

As you will see from the list below, there has been another pretty decent crop of new additions to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store during the last seven days. Consequently, I have (again) been fairly hard-pushed for time today and so, with further details of any Roku-related news stories from the past week still to follow, I'm going to jump straight into the list of new channel additions and then flesh-out the other aspects of this article as and when I get the chance. That said, you can always look back over the information shared via the companion Twitter Feed: @ukrokuchannels from since my previous 'Weekly RoundUp was posted and you'll find most (if not all) of the news there.

PLEASE NOTE:- That, as the 'BeckyBunny' channel (developed by Vego TV Inc) has yet to be added to the "Official" Roku USA Channel Store, the link provided above will (instead) redirect you to the main website of 'Vego TV' which falls under the banner of 'Go China TV' although (during my brief visit to the site) there appeared to be no information specific to the 'BeckyBunny' channel available. That said, I was able to determine that the company has an office in California (USA) whose contact details (incl. full postal & email addresses plus phone / fax number) were freely available via their 'Contact Us' information - FOUND HERE - shown below for your convenience:-

Those of you with an international calling plan may wish to telephone, in advance of adding this channel, to determine exactly what is meant by "may require additional fees" in relation to the 'BeckyBunny' channel on Roku devices, as mentioned in the channel store description. If you do so, the "+1" refers to the "Country Code" when calling the USA, so (to dial-out from the UK) this would require '001' followed by the rest of the number... '646-316-4609'. For those without an international calling plan, I would suggest making contact via email with any questions or concerns regarding the use of the 'BeckyBunny' channel from 'Vego TV' since it is likely to provide a more timely response than sending a letter to their postal address which I mainly included for the sake of completion.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE:- That again, due to the absence of the 'BeckyBunny' channel from the "Official" Roku USA Channel Store, there is (currently) no active link to an 'Roku Guide' review. ... which, I'll admit, doesn't tell us all that much but you can probably expect lots of super-cute anime which is aimed at much younger viewers. So, if you'd like to give your kids a head-start in life, by learning to speak a little Chinese while (hopefully) keeping them entertained with the cute bunnies, then this may be the ideal channel for them to begin with! ;-)

PLEASE NOTE:- That, although the description of this 'Gumby REMOLDED' channel does state that it "May require additional fees", I feel this may be some sort of error (either on behalf of Roku, or else the developer themselves) because '8ctave ITV' who created this (and many other apps) for Roku devices produce all their channels under the mantra of "Full-Versioned & Free Forever". Couple that with the claim on their website - FOUND HERE - that "With Octave Wireless Cable TV, There's no Upcharge for HD Quality Channels. In Fact, there's no Charge for Anything. Ever" and the fact this channel is already ad-supported makes me feel it's unlikely there'll be any "additional fees". However, if you wish to reassure yourself before adding the channel, I would suggest you correspond directly with the developer - VIA THEIR CONTACT FORM - and obtain clarification.
